Exploring Bryce Canyon National Park

After a winter in Utah, we started the next leg of our never-ending journey by heading south to Bryce Canyon National Park.  After all the years we've lived in Utah, we'd never actually BEEN to Bryce!  Naturally, we made it a mandatory stop on our way out this time.

Van Dwelling at Yellowstone's Mammoth Hot Springs

Our first stop in Yellowstone was Mammoth Hot Springs. Realistically, the pictures and video of Mammoth’s travertine terraces, steaming hot springs, and gaunt dead trees will do it far more justice than our words could ever do. Epic Drives: Glacier National Park's Going-To-The-Sun Road

Is it weird that we had never heard of the Going-To-The-Sun Road until just before we headed to Glacier? I mean, seriously… this is one of the most epic drives in the United States of America and we knew almost nothing of it previously. Either way, I’m glad that was the case, because I had no idea what to expect (Sorry if I’m ruining it for you. Did Somebody Say Volcano?

The sun had barely cracked the horizon, its warm glow moving down the adjacent slope of the Rio Quebrada Honda valley as we rolled out of bed. While rubbing my eyes and peering out the hazy window at the early morning spectacle I begin to wonder, "Why did we sign up for this again? Oh yeah... volcano." It seems as though the very word was designed to suck the interest of anyone who dared glance at a Lonely Planet Guide. We stumbled into some CouchSurfing friends the night before and as soon as the word was mentioned, it sounded good to us and we agreed to meet up and go together. Luckily our bags were pre-packed and limited clothing makes for limited selection time.
